1. Manju (female protagonist) makes her presence known by firmly taking a seat among the men after exchanging tense looks with her husband. Sensing her unspoken message, her husband gets up and moves toward the kitchen, surprise the women by starting to help. He puts together the dishes, operates the fan, and serves the chicken with care. The other husbands notice this change in behavior and invite their spouses to join them at the table. The group eventually shares the meal in silence, the weight of their newly acquired awareness noticeable in the space.
2. Observing his pregnant wife stressed from her cooking responsibilities, one of the husbands takes action. He assumes her responsibilities, telling his wife to get some rest and heading into the kitchen to assist the other women. The other men, who were at first indifferent and holding drinks, observe this unexpected gesture of thoughtfulness. Slowly, they all do the same, cooperating to support rather than to dominate. The men eventually overcome their misogynistic attitude and work together in the kitchen.
3. Presenting signs of frustration, Manju comes out of the kitchen with the overdone chicken. She puts it in front of the ignorant men without saying anything, and as soon as they see the burnt food, their laughter stops. Gradually, their realization sets in, the burning dinner serving as a sharp reminder of their own carelessness. They are left to consider the effects of their entitlement after Manju's quiet but impactful deed.
